About the Author

Most days, you will find the author, Genna Tesdall, working outdoors or writing. The best learning can be done outdoors and the best cultural interactions take place over food; these interests cause her to study Global Resource Systems and Agricultural Biology at Iowa State University. She enjoyed working for Ames Laboratory in Ames, Iowa for several years before her move into the college of Agriculture at Iowa State University. In the recent past, she worked for the ISU Horticulture Research Station. Her career goals are in sustainable agriculture and international agricultural journalism.

This spring, the International Association of Agriculture and related Sciences students (IAAS) selected her as President of IAAS Iowa State University. With IAAS-ISU, she is planning the IAAS 2014 World Congress to take place in Iowa.

Genna is also a Community Adviser for house Oak Sims at Iowa State University. Her current projects as a CA include the Take Less, Give More Water Initiative and the Oak-Elm Recreation Room renovation project.

Finally, a brief explanation of the title chose for the weblog is in order. Nomenclature for the Souvarian is a two part name. "Nomenclature" expresses a desire for development for the ability to describe new objects, feelings, people, and locations. "Souvarian" when spoken aloud sounds like "so-very-young." Thus, this is an outlet for expression for the wide-eyed traveler. Thank you to musical artist Andrew Bird and his Nobel Beast album for inspiration for the title. Your consideration and feedback is always appreciated.
